Talent Development Tour Reaches Jwaneng, Equipping Youth with Skills for the Future. The Talent Development Tour made its latest stop in Jwaneng, offering young Batswana a hands-on platform for career exploration, innovation, and personal growth. The initiative is a joint effort by the Government of Botswana, De Beers Group, and UNICEF, reflecting a shared vision to prepare Botswana’s youth for the demands of a changing economic landscape.

Targeted at youth development, the tour provides access to internships, industry-specific training, and leadership programmes designed to strengthen employability and entrepreneurial potential. It is also aligned with national efforts to drive inclusive, sustainable economic growth through youth empowerment.

Among the key opportunities offered:

  • Internship Placements for final-year students, offering three to six months of real-world industry exposure;
  • De Beers Diamond Academy, which delivers short courses for individuals interested in mining and the minerals sector;
  • Leadership and Sponsorship Programmes, including the Leaders Accelerator Programme, aimed at grooming future leaders in both business and public service.

For entrepreneurs and business stakeholders, the tour represents a promising pipeline for skilled talent and a chance to engage youth in meaningful, productive roles across sectors.

According to organisers, the initiative is not only about equipping individuals, but also about contributing to national development goals through targeted investment in human capital. As industries evolve, the focus on skills development, innovation, and adaptability becomes increasingly critical.

The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs, De Beers, and UNICEF remain committed to expanding access to such programmes across Botswana’s regions. As the Talent Development Tour continues, it stands as a powerful symbol of opportunity—empowering young Batswana to take charge of their futures and contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.
