South African Airways Relaunches Double Daily Flights Between Johannesburg and Gaborone. South African Airways (SAA) has officially resumed its scheduled services to Botswana, marking its return to the Gaborone route with double daily flights between Johannesburg and Gaborone. The relaunch, effective today, is being operated using the Airbus A320, reinforcing SAA’s renewed regional connectivity strategy.
The airline will now operate two daily flights from Johannesburg to Gaborone—departing at 06:35 and 16:40—with return flights leaving Gaborone at 08:25 and 18:30. The schedule is designed to provide greater flexibility for both business and leisure travelers, as well as to enhance trade and investment mobility between the two countries.
SAA’s return to the Botswana market represents a boost for regional business connectivity, offering entrepreneurs and corporates in both nations improved access to meetings, trade opportunities, and supply chain coordination. The route is also expected to support tourism and cross-border collaboration across various industries. The reintroduction of the Gaborone flights forms part of SAA’s broader recovery plan to strengthen its regional presence following years of restructuring. With the addition of this route, the airline further expands its Southern African network, reconnecting key economic hubs across the region.
The return of South African Airways to Botswana signals renewed momentum in Southern Africa’s aviation and business landscape, supporting efforts to rebuild regional integration and facilitate easier movement of people and goods.
