Selebi Phikwe Entrepreneurs Urged to Tap Into BITC and SPEDU Support Services. Local entrepreneurs in Selebi Phikwe have been encouraged to make full use of the business development services offered by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) and the Selebi Phikwe Economic Diversification Unit (SPEDU) to drive growth and unlock regional economic opportunities.
This call to action was made during the 2025 BITC National Roadshow hosted in the town, where stakeholders gathered to discuss tools and programmes available to support local enterprises.
Mr. Gaorekwe Gaorekwe, Director of Business Services – North at BITC, emphasized the value of initiatives like the Botswana One Stop Service Centre, which simplifies business processes for investors and entrepreneurs. He also highlighted the #PushaBW campaign, aimed at promoting locally made products, and the Botswana Exporter Development Programme, which equips businesses with the skills and resources needed to access international markets. Additionally, the Botswana Trade Portal was cited as a key tool for accessing up-to-date trade information.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Maiba Samunzala, Acting Director of Strategic Projects at SPEDU, reaffirmed the agency’s focus on economic diversification, particularly in the agriculture and manufacturing sectors. He encouraged business owners to explore SPEDU-facilitated opportunities that could lead to long-term employment creation and community upliftment.
Samunzala reiterated SPEDU’s commitment to inclusive regional development and urged the business community to stay engaged with ongoing programmes that foster innovation and resilience.
