Sefalana Reports P5.8 Billion Half-Year Revenue Amid Challenging Trading Conditions. Sefalana Group has reported revenue of P5.8 billion for the 26-week period ended 26 October 2025, reflecting a 9 percent increase despite what the company described as difficult economic conditions. The performance was announced during the presentation of the group’s half-year results in Gaborone on Friday.

Group Managing Director Chandra Chauhan said the company’s diversified business model helped sustain performance during a tough trading period. He noted that the revenue growth was recorded in a regional environment where inflation ranged between 3 and 5 percent.

However, profit before tax declined by 10 percent over the same period. The group also reported missing out on P225 million linked to the cancellation of the Tsabana-Malutu tender by government.

Sefalana indicated that its diversification strategy remains central to its approach, with the aim of delivering optimal value while navigating economic pressures. According to Chauhan, the company’s varied operations have played a stabilising role during the current economic cycle.

The results come as businesses across the region continue to manage shifting market conditions and cost pressures. Sefalana’s leadership said it will continue focusing on strengthening its operational base and maintaining performance across its business segments.

While acknowledging the challenges faced during the reporting period, the group emphasised its commitment to adapting to the economic environment and sustaining growth where possible.

The half-year update provides an overview of how one of Botswana’s home-grown retail groups is responding to a changing economic landscape, balancing growth in revenue with pressures affecting profitability.
