Scheduled Maintenance to Temporarily Disrupt BTC Airtime Purchases via FNB Channels. Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has announced a scheduled system maintenance that will temporarily affect prepaid airtime purchases through selected First National Bank Botswana (FNB) digital and mobile banking platforms.

According to the notice issued to clients, the maintenance is scheduled to take place on Monday, 19 January 2026, starting at 23:00. During this period, customers will experience disruptions when attempting to purchase BTC prepaid airtime using the FNB App, Online Banking, Cellphone Banking, eWallet, and CashPlus services.

BTC confirmed that the interruption is part of planned maintenance activities and will be limited to the stated time window. Services are expected to resume on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, at 03:00, following the completion of the maintenance work.

Customers have been advised to plan their airtime purchases accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the affected hours. Alternative arrangements may be made before the maintenance period begins, particularly for customers who rely on digital banking channels for airtime top-ups late at night.

BTC and FNB Botswana acknowledged that service interruptions can be inconvenient and expressed regret for any disruption caused. The notice emphasised that the maintenance is scheduled and time-bound, with systems expected to return to normal operations once the work is completed.

The maintenance will specifically impact prepaid airtime purchases and does not mention disruptions to other banking or telecommunications services. Customers using physical outlets or alternative purchase methods were not referenced in the notice.

Scheduled system maintenance is periodically carried out to support system stability and operational requirements. BTC stated that the notice was issued in advance to allow customers adequate time to prepare.

Clients are encouraged to monitor official communication channels for updates or further notices related to the maintenance. Should any changes occur to the maintenance schedule or service restoration time, BTC and FNB Botswana indicated that relevant information would be shared through their official platforms.

The scheduled maintenance window remains set from 23:00 on Monday, 19 January 2026, until 03:00 on Tuesday, 20 January 2026.
