Sandfire Resources has been confirmed as a sponsor for the upcoming Future of Mining Summit, scheduled to take place on 29–30 June 2026 at Boipuso Hall in Gaborone. The summit will be held under the theme: “Mining for Transformation: Economic Diversification & Shared Prosperity.”

Sandfire Resources, a leading mining company in Botswana, operates the Motheo Copper Mine in Ghanzi, located in the highly prospective Kalahari Copper Belt. The company employs more than 2,000 people, including contractors, with 95% of its workforce being Batswana. Its participation in the summit highlights its role as a key player in shaping the future of Botswana’s base metals sector and contributing to local economic growth.

The Future of Mining Summit, endorsed and supported by the Government of the Republic of Botswana through the Ministry of Minerals & Energy, will explore the critical role mining plays in transforming Botswana’s economy. Discussions will focus on diversifying revenue streams beyond diamonds and ensuring that mineral wealth translates into shared prosperity for communities.

Key topics at this year’s summit include value chain development, mineral beneficiation, youth and talent development, citizen economic empowerment, critical minerals, strategic investment in exploration, local supply chain development, and community development.
