Q-Butchery Shutdown Over Food Safety Violations Following City Inspection. Q-Butchery, operated by All-H Enterprises Pty Ltd, has been ordered to close its Bontleng cold storage facility after city authorities uncovered multiple hygiene and safety violations during a routine inspection.

According to the local council, the decision was made in line with the Public Health and Food Control Acts, following the discovery of what they described as “abhorrent hygiene standards” that posed a risk of food contamination.

Q-Butchery was cited for several serious compliance failures, including:

  • Failure to properly collect and dispose of clinical waste;
  • Employing staff without valid medical certificates of fitness;
  • Operating under unsanitary conditions;
  • Engaging in unsafe food handling procedures.

For entrepreneurs in Botswana’s food and retail sectors, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of compliance with health regulations and food safety laws. Businesses are advised to ensure regular staff medical checks, implement proper waste management practices, and maintain high sanitation standards to avoid similar penalties.

As the city continues its campaign for safer, healthier environments, business owners are encouraged to treat food safety as a core part of their operations. The shutdown forms part of the city’s broader commitment to improving public health, especially in high-risk sectors like food distribution and cold storage.
