Presidential Projects Advisor Tours BMC and Leather Park to Assess PProgress. Presidential Projects Advisor Mr. Omphile Sehurutshe today conducted a strategic tour of key industrial projects in Botswana, beginning with a guided visit to the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) plant. The visit aimed to provide first-hand insight into the BMC’s operations and assess ongoing opportunities for local enterprise development.

The tour was led by Ms. Kesolofetse Tibe, Acting CEO of BMC, who, along with her executive team, walked the delegation through the plant’s value chain operations, highlighting its role in Botswana’s agricultural and export economy.

Mr. Sehurutshe was joined by representatives from the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) and the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA). Their participation underscored the broader national focus on aligning industrial production with enterprise development, export readiness, and economic diversification.

Following the BMC tour, the delegation visited the Leather Park project, which is currently undergoing refurbishment. Once completed, the Leather Park is expected to play a significant role in the growth of Botswana’s leather and manufacturing industries by supporting local businesses with infrastructure, training, and access to markets.

The project is scheduled for completion and handover in December 2025, and forms part of broader efforts to revitalise value-added manufacturing in Botswana through strategic investment and targeted support.

These site visits are part of a series of engagements aimed at enhancing collaboration between government, state-owned enterprises, and local business enablers — ensuring national projects translate into real economic impact for Batswana.
