President Unveils Space AI Partnership to Support Mining, Agriculture and Data-Driven Development. President Advocate Duma Boko has announced the introduction of Space AI, a United Arab Emirates–based company set to support key sectors including agriculture, mining, water management, environmental monitoring and national security.

The announcement was made during a kgotla meeting held in Kanye on Friday morning, where President Boko outlined the company’s capabilities and its intended role in supporting national development priorities. According to the President, Space AI brings advanced expertise that could help transform how data is used across several strategic sectors.

President Boko stated that the company will be based in Jwaneng and will focus on the use of earth observation technologies combined with satellite systems, artificial intelligence and data analytics. He explained that these tools will enable more informed decision-making across sectors that rely heavily on accurate and timely data.

He said the integration of space-based data and digital systems has the potential to support mining operations, strengthen biosecurity efforts and improve agricultural productivity. In agriculture, President Boko highlighted the role of precision farming, noting that access to detailed data could help farmers improve crop quality, reduce wastage and achieve better production outcomes.

The President further noted that the application of these technologies would assist in building a smarter and more resilient economy, with data-driven insights supporting planning, monitoring and resource management. He added that the initiative aligns with efforts to position the country for an export-led economy by improving efficiency and output in productive sectors.

In addition to agriculture and mining, Space AI’s scope includes water management and environmental monitoring, areas where satellite imagery and data analytics can be used to track changes, manage resources and support long-term sustainability.

President Boko said the company’s approach focuses on empowering the nation through a complete space and digital ecosystem, enabling the country to unlock the full potential of earth observation data. He described the initiative as an important step toward modernising key sectors through technology and innovation.
