President Boko Urges Action-Oriented Public–Private Partnerships to Accelerate Diversification. President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has called for a decisive shift in the relationship between government and the private sector, emphasizing that measurable progress must replace rhetoric if Botswana is to achieve meaningful economic diversification.
Speaking at a high-level engagement with the Ambrosetti Members CEO Community, Africa Chapter, held at Hotel 430 in Gaborone, President Boko addressed the long-standing disconnect between policy and execution. He challenged both government and business leaders to build a results-driven public–private partnership model.
“Red tape and bureaucratic delays continue to hold back the pace of transformation,” he noted, identifying the need for reform within public institutions to facilitate faster, more effective collaboration.
The President urged the private sector to go beyond advocacy and play a proactive role as co-creators of economic opportunity, calling on businesses to apply their expertise and innovation to solve national challenges and contribute to sectoral growth.
For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and business community, the President’s remarks signal a window of opportunity to engage directly with government on projects that support industrial growth, skills development, digital innovation, and value-chain expansion.
While acknowledging the complexity of the task ahead, President Boko emphasized the urgency of aligning Botswana’s economic agenda with private sector-led solutions, noting that true diversification requires shared accountability and measurable outcomes.
The engagement marks a continued push by the new administration to reset the tone and structure of public–private dialogue in Botswana, placing delivery, reform, and economic inclusivity at the centre of national development.
