President Boko Unveils Botswana Economic Transformation Programme to Spur Investment and Job Creation. President Advocate Duma Boko has officially launched the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP), a new national strategy aimed at accelerating economic growth, diversifying key sectors, and positioning Botswana as a globally competitive, service-driven economy.

The launch event, held on 15 July 2025, marked a significant shift in Botswana’s approach to economic development. President Boko emphasized that the BETP will prioritise investment attraction, job creation, and administrative efficiency as cornerstones of the nation’s transformation agenda.

To ensure rapid and accountable delivery, the Presidency has introduced a Presidential Delivery Dashboard, a tool designed to track progress weekly across various focus areas. The dashboard will serve as a real-time monitoring system to keep the programme results-driven and transparent.

Supporting the implementation of the BETP is Pemandu Associates, a global consultancy known for its track record in public sector transformation. Their role will be to assist in developing high-impact initiatives and building local capacity to drive execution on the ground.

The BETP is expected to benefit a wide spectrum of entrepreneurs, especially in non-traditional sectors such as tourism, ICT, financial services, and value-added manufacturing. By streamlining regulatory frameworks and cutting bureaucratic delays, the programme aims to create a more business-friendly environment that boosts confidence among local and foreign investors.
