President Boko Highlights Urgent Fuel Security Measures. President Duma Gideon Boko has emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Botswana’s fuel security, calling attention to the country’s limited reserves during the Botswana National Front Leadership Forum held yesterday.
In his opening remarks, President Boko revealed that Botswana currently holds only nine days’ worth of fuel reserves, a figure far below the internationally recommended standard of 90 days. He described this shortfall as a critical national security concern and assured citizens that the government is actively implementing measures to address the issue. Fuel security, he noted, is essential for maintaining economic stability and protecting the country against potential disruptions.
The President stressed that progress requires action rather than rhetoric, urging leaders to focus on execution and service delivery. He committed to ensuring that governmental promises translate into visible and measurable outcomes within the next 12 months, reinforcing his administration’s focus on accountability and results-driven governance.
On the subject of leadership and governance, President Boko reiterated the importance of adhering to the rule of law, particularly in sensitive matters such as the death penalty. While acknowledging diverse public opinions, he emphasized that government must uphold existing legal processes rather than attempt to alter them through sentiment or debate.
In closing, President Boko expressed confidence in a future shaped by a government dedicated to delivering substantial results. He called for unity, discipline, and focus among members of the Botswana National Front and the Umbrella for Democratic Change coalition, urging them to work collectively toward improving the lives of citizens.
His remarks underscored a dual commitment: addressing immediate national security challenges such as fuel reserves, while also reinforcing principles of governance, accountability, and adherence to the law.
