OWS Local Suppliers Expo Drives PushaBW Momentum, Unlocks Millions in Local Business Deals. Okavango Wilderness Safaris (OWS) has once again put the spotlight on local entrepreneurship with the successful hosting of its 2nd annual Local Suppliers Expo in Maun, drawing over 70 local businesses and key industry stakeholders.

Addressing attendees, Minister of State President Hon. Moeti C. Mohwasa applauded OWS for scaling up the Expo in both size and impact. He noted that smart partnerships and shared purpose across sectors are critical to building a resilient and inclusive economy. “Government supports initiatives like this because they align with our vision to deepen economic participation and create more opportunities for Batswana,” he said.

OWS Chairman Mr. Kabelo Binns highlighted the tangible results from the inaugural Expo, stating that local orders rose from P6.3 million last year to P8 million by the end of 2024. He further noted that OWS has spent over P1.8 billion on local procurement over the past decade, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to citizen economic empowerment.

The Expo, held in partnership with BITC, LEA, CEDA, Stanbic Bank, Cresta Riley’s, ProLearn Institute, Water Africa, and the #PushaBW campaign, provided a vital platform for entrepreneurs to showcase Botswana-made goods and services, build networks, and explore growth opportunities.

BITC engaged attendees on how to leverage its services for business expansion, aligning with the #PushaBW initiative’s goal of elevating local brands in both domestic and export markets.

For Botswana’s business community, particularly SMEs, the Expo presents a valuable opportunity to tap into the lucrative tourism supply chain while contributing to the broader national development agenda.
