Nucarbon Technology Launches Pyrolysis Plant in Palapye, Driving Innovation Through Collaboration. The launch of Nucarbon Technology’s Containerised Pyrolysis Plant in Palapye yesterday marked a significant milestone in Botswana’s innovation landscape. Speaking at the launch, Kabo Phetlhu, CEO of Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub (BDIH), underscored the importance of partnerships in building a thriving innovation ecosystem. He emphasized that collaboration between government, academia, funding institutions, and the private sector is essential to unlocking scalable solutions that can transform communities and industries.

“We are on a deliberate journey to create vibrant centres of innovation excellence with a wide reach – to knowledge holders in our remote communities, to emerging startups with disruptive ideas, to academia where research outputs are being developed, and to leading businesses looking to create new models of value creation. The newly launched containerised pyrolysis plant represents a cutting-edge waste-to-energy innovation. It transforms poultry litter into high-value products such as bio-diesel, biochar, pyrolytic acid, light fuel oil, and surplus electricity. This development stands as a strong example of locally driven innovation with global relevance, demonstrating how Botswana can harness technology to address pressing environmental and economic challenges.
