Morupule Coal Mine Opens Electrical Maintenance Tender Opportunity for Local Engineering Firms. Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) has announced a new invitation to tender for engineering companies in Botswana, calling for submissions to carry out annual legal electrical maintenance, testing, and examination of substations and surface transformers at its mining site.

The mine, located near Palapye, has been a cornerstone of Botswana’s coal sector since its establishment in 1973. Owned by the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB), a state investment arm, MCM plays a significant role in the country’s industrial development and energy security.

The tender opportunity—reference MCM-ENG-00-0070-2503-CF-0—is specifically for qualified and established engineering firms to conduct regulated electrical work as part of the mine’s routine operational safety and compliance measures. Interested companies are invited to submit their tenders via email to MTenders@mcm.co.bw. The deadline for submissions is set for 24 June 2025 at 12:00 noon.

The company has made it clear that no alternative methods of submission—such as hand delivery, fax, or phone—will be accepted. Only proposals received by the specified email and deadline will be considered.

According to MCM, this process is part of its ongoing commitment to uphold safety, operational efficiency, and legal compliance at its facilities. The company has also emphasized that all submissions will be subject to the Morupule Coal Mine General Conditions of Service, and acceptance of any proposal will only be confirmed through official notification.
