MMG Khoemacau Joins Future of Mining Summit as Gold Sponsor. The organisers of the Future of Mining Summit 2026 have announced MMG Khoemacau Copper Mine (KCM) as a Gold Sponsor for the event, scheduled to take place on 29–30 June at Boipuso Hall, Fairgrounds, under the theme “Mining for Transformation: Economic Diversification & Shared Prosperity.”

Located in the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana’s North-West District, Khoemacau is recognised as one of the country’s flagship base-metal operations. The mine is known for its high-grade copper-silver mineralisation and operates according to international mining standards, forming part of MMG’s expanding global copper portfolio.

Khoemacau is currently undertaking a P13 billion expansion project aimed at increasing annual production capacity to 130,000 tonnes of copper concentrate, with associated silver output expected to exceed 4 million ounces annually. To support this growth, three new mines are being developed at the Zone 5 North, Mango, and Zeta North-East deposits, extending ore supply beyond the current Zone 5 mine. A new processing plant with a capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) will also be constructed, boosting total milling capacity to more than 8.0 Mtpa.

The expansion project, officially launched in February 2026, represents the beginning of Khoemacau’s long-term growth strategy. Ongoing studies and exploration activities are already underway to support an additional 65,000 tonnes in production capacity, with the ultimate goal of reaching 200,000 tonnes per annum.
