MCM, UN Women, and Partners Open EntreprenHER Programme to Empower Female-Led Businesses. Morupule Coal Mine (MCM), in collaboration with UN Women, the Government of Botswana, and Absa Bank, has officially launched the latest call for applications for its EntreprenHER Programme—a targeted initiative designed to empower and accelerate women-owned enterprises in Botswana’s industrial sectors.
Through its Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP), MCM continues to champion inclusive growth and innovation in Botswana’s economy. The EntreprenHER initiative, first introduced in 2017, focuses on equipping 100% female citizen-owned businesses with practical skills and business tools to scale operations and enhance competitiveness in high-value industries.
Applications are now open to eligible businesses that are registered on the MCM Supplier Database and operate within the following sectors:Mechanical EngineeringPlant MaintenanceLogisticsMining
Interested business owners must submit their applications via this official link or by scanning the QR code provided in the campaign material. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, 15 July 2025.
MCM’s partnership with UN Women and other stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to promoting gender-inclusive entrepreneurship in traditionally male-dominated industries. By focusing on skills development, access to markets, and networking opportunities, the EntreprenHER programme plays a critical role in expanding economic participation for women in Botswana.
For Botswana’s entrepreneurial community, especially those operating in the industrial and mining value chains, this initiative offers not only exposure and learning but also a platform for long-term business growth.
