MCM Citizen Economic Empowerment Webinar Series Postponed. Botswana’s entrepreneurial community will have an opportunity next week to engage in the fourth session of the MCM Citizen Economic Empowerment (CEE) Webinar Series, now rescheduled to Tuesday, 19 August 2025. The webinar, themed “Your Story Matters: Closing the Botswana SME Funding Gap towards Achieving Economic Transformation,” aims to address critical challenges facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in accessing finance.
The session will be led by Mr. Harold Matenge, Head of Ecosystem Banking at Absa, who brings extensive experience in financial solutions and support for emerging businesses. Participants can expect insights on bridging the funding gap, leveraging financial ecosystems, and building sustainable SME ventures that contribute to Botswana’s economic transformation.
The CEE Webinar Series serves as a platform to enhance linkages among key actors in Botswana’s National Innovation System. By fostering collaboration between the private sector, academia, government, and civil society, the series provides entrepreneurs with access to expert knowledge, strategic guidance, and practical tools for business growth. The programme places citizen-owned businesses at the centre, highlighting their role in driving innovation, value creation, and inclusive economic development.
Entrepreneurs and business stakeholders are encouraged to register for free to participate in the webinar and gain valuable perspectives on accessing finance, navigating regulatory environments, and connecting with potential partners across the mining and broader economic value chains.
The MCM CEE team has urged participants to note the new date and continue preparing questions and discussion points to maximise engagement during the session. For registration and further information, participants can visit https://shorturl.at/WqZm8 or contact the organisers directly at ceep@mcm.co.bw.
This upcoming webinar presents a timely opportunity for Botswana’s SMEs to gain actionable strategies, strengthen financial literacy, and position their businesses for growth in a competitive economic landscape.
