Mascom Expands Into Cloud, Cybersecurity and Digital Financial SServices. Mascom Wireless is expanding beyond mobile connectivity into cloud computing, cybersecurity and digital financial services as the telecommunications operator looks to develop new areas of business in Botswana’s technology market.

The company has already entered these sectors through its Enterprise Cloud Solutions and MyZaka FlexiSure insurance offering.

The expansion represents a broader focus for Mascom, which is seeking to build on its existing telecommunications infrastructure while offering additional services to consumers and corporate clients.

Chief Executive Officer Makhwade-Seboni said the transition would build on the company’s existing network infrastructure while broadening the range of services available to its customers. Mascom’s move into cloud computing is being pursued through its Enterprise Cloud Solutions offering, while MyZaka FlexiSure provides the company with a presence in digital financial services.

Cybersecurity is also part of the company’s expansion into technology-related services, although details on specific products or investments in this area have not been disclosed.

Mascom has not disclosed how much it plans to invest in expanding its technology business. It has also not provided projections for how much revenue the new services are expected to generate.

The company’s expansion comes as technology services continue to form part of the wider digital economy, creating opportunities for telecommunications operators to provide services beyond traditional connectivity.
