Letlole La Rona Withdraws from Kenyan Market to Refocus on Core Investments. Botswana-based property investment company Letlole La Rona (LLR) has confirmed its withdrawal from the Kenyan market, marking the end of its involvement in Orbit Africa Logistics, a venture that has proven financially challenging and triggered a broader review of the company’s regional strategy.

In a recent trading update, LLR stated that the decision “aligns with our duty to investors and reflects our commitment to preserving and enhancing long-term shareholder value.” The company added that “various exit options are actively being explored” to ensure a responsible divestment process that minimises financial impact.

LLR’s investment in Orbit Africa Logistics was part of an ambitious effort to expand into East Africa and diversify its portfolio beyond Botswana’s borders. However, the expansion has reportedly been expensive, weighing on profits and prompting the board to reassess the balance between growth and stability in its Pan-African strategy.

The exit marks a key turning point for the Botswana Stock Exchange-listed company, signalling a potential shift back to strengthening its domestic portfolio and improving operational efficiency. Analysts say the move demonstrates prudent financial management and responsiveness to market realities — qualities that will be crucial for LLR as it continues to build value in a changing regional investment environment.

For Botswana’s business community, LLR’s decision underscores the importance of measured regional expansion and strategic focus. It serves as a reminder that cross-border investments, while potentially lucrative, require robust risk assessment and adaptability to shifting market dynamics.
