Letlole La Rona to Co-Develop New State-of-the-Art Mall in Selebi-Phikwe. Botswana entrepreneurs and businesses are set to benefit from a major retail development in Selebi-Phikwe, as Letlole La Rona Limited (LLR) announces plans to co-develop a modern shopping centre through its subsidiary, JTTM Properties (Pty) Ltd.
According to a statement released this week, JTTM has finalized agreements to partner with an established private real estate company to develop the new retail mall. The project will be executed via a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), with JTTM participating as a shareholder. The development is positioned to become a key commercial hub in the region and is expected to contribute to the economic revitalization of the Selebi-Phikwe Economic Development Unit.
As part of the execution process, LLR, acting as JTTM’s Property and Asset Manager, is actively engaging with financial institutions and potential capital providers to secure funding for the project. The company highlighted that the initiative is aimed at expanding its income-generating portfolio and delivering long-term value to stakeholders.
LLR owns 57.79% of JTTM Properties, with the remainder held by Botswana Railways, the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, and other shareholders. JTTM’s flagship property is Railpark Mall in Gaborone, a landmark retail destination. Other significant assets in LLR’s portfolio include Watershed Mall in Mahalapye, demonstrating the company’s growing presence in Botswana’s retail property market.
LLR itself is majority-owned by the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) with over 40% shareholding, while the Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) holds just over 36%. The remaining 23% is owned by various other shareholders.
This latest development underscores LLR’s commitment to expanding modern retail infrastructure and creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs, retailers, and service providers in Selebi-Phikwe. The company anticipates strong engagement from capital partners to bring the project to fruition.
The new mall is expected to become a central destination for commerce, supporting business growth while enhancing the shopping experience for the community.
