Lemon Pepper Film Project Opens Call for Script Submissions. Botswana’s creative industry has been given another opportunity to showcase local talent, as submissions for the annual Lemon Pepper Film Project are now officially open. The initiative, funded by the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) through the Levy on Technical Devices Fund, invites aspiring and established filmmakers to submit their film scripts for consideration before the deadline of 22 September 2025.

The Lemon Pepper Film Project is more than just a competition. It is a platform designed to nurture Botswana’s film and storytelling culture while providing participants with access to professional production opportunities. Selected scripts will be developed into films that form part of a documentary series, creating visibility for local creators and positioning Botswana’s film industry for broader audiences.

For entrepreneurs and businesses, the project represents a chance to engage with a growing sector that blends creativity with commercial potential. Film production stimulates various industries including catering, transport, costume design, and digital media services, offering avenues for small businesses to partner and benefit. With funding support from CIPA, the initiative also ensures that intellectual property rights are protected, encouraging creators to see storytelling as a viable economic venture.

As Botswana looks to diversify its economy, the film industry stands out as a sector with untapped potential. Projects like Lemon Pepper help bridge the gap between talent and market access, while promoting Botswana’s stories to both domestic and international platforms.

Entrepreneurs interested in creative partnerships, sponsorships, or service provision are encouraged to monitor the project closely. With the submission window open until 22 September, this year’s competition could mark a significant step in strengthening the country’s creative economy.
