Legal Insights Empower Botswana Entrepreneurs at Mogobe Mentorship Session. Entrepreneurs under the Mogobe Entrepreneurship Mentorship Program (MEMP) received a powerful legal boost this week during a special session hosted by Lerumo Mogobe Legal Practitioners (LMLP). Appearing before the second cohort of mentees and program alumni, law partners Keagile Lesolle and a representative of LMLP delivered a compelling presentation on how legal strategy is a critical pillar for sustainable business growth.

The session focused on equipping mentees with accessible legal solutions tailored for early-stage and scaling businesses. Central to the discussion was the importance of data protection compliance, a growing concern in the digital economy.

Mr. Lesolle emphasized that data is now a core business asset. “In today’s landscape, protecting customer and company data is as important as securing financial assets,” he said, unpacking the legal implications of Botswana’s Data Protection Act. LMLP is offering free Data Protection Audits to all MEMP participants to help them assess and improve their compliance.

The legal team also introduced mentees to strategic legal services developed specifically for small businesses, including customized contracts to safeguard intellectual property and client data, affordable retainer packages, and assistance with shareholder agreements and regulatory compliance.

The event showcased five key areas where legal support can enhance entrepreneurship: data management, IP protection, strategic contracting, growth planning, and compliance. Each element was discussed with real-world relevance for Botswana’s SME landscape.
