Kwena Bazaar Fined P6,000 for Health Violations, Ordered to Suspend Operations. Aksa Investment (Pty) Ltd, trading as Kwena Bazaar, has been fined P6,000.00 for operating under unhygienic conditions and failing to meet proper waste management standards. The enforcement action was taken following an inspection by health authorities, which uncovered expired goods and inadequate adherence to public health protocols.

According to officials, expired items found on the premises were removed and safely disposed of at the Gamodubu Landfill. The company was also cited for failing to uphold its duty of care in managing commercial waste, a legal requirement for all retail and trading operations in Botswana.

In addition to the monetary fine, the manager of Kwena Bazaar has been ordered to cease all shop operations until full compliance with health and safety regulations is achieved. Authorities emphasized that the shop must rectify all violations before any consideration is given for reopening.

This development serves as a reminder to the business community about the importance of strict compliance with Botswana’s health, sanitation, and environmental regulations. Retailers and entrepreneurs are urged to ensure their trading environments meet all legal and hygiene standards, particularly when handling consumable goods.

For Botswana’s small and medium-sized enterprises, this case highlights the reputational and financial risks of non-compliance. Regulatory adherence is not only a legal responsibility but also a key component of consumer trust and sustainable business practices.
