Kopano Bolokwe Takes Helm as Chairperson of Botswana’s Civil Aviation AAuthority. The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) has appointed Kopano Bolokwe as Chairperson of its Board, with his three-year term commencing on 19th January 2026.

Bolokwe joins the Authority with extensive leadership experience across regulated and complex environments. He is a seasoned capital markets executive with over 15 years of experience in Botswana, South Africa, and the United States, and has previously held senior positions including Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE). He currently serves as Head of Product Development at the BSE.

His appointment comes as Botswana’s aviation sector seeks to strengthen regulatory standards, safety measures, connectivity, and its role in supporting economic development and transformation. Bolokwe’s expertise in governance, regulatory reform, commercialization strategies, and stakeholder engagement is expected to guide the Authority’s strategic direction and oversight responsibilities.

Bolokwe has held several board roles, including Independent Non-Executive Director positions at the Okavango Diamond Company and Southview Limited, a BOMAID subsidiary. He also serves as Secretary General of the Botswana Bond Market Association. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong focus on good governance, institutional performance, innovation in products and services, and sustainability.

The CAAB Board, management, and staff extended congratulations to Bolokwe on his appointment, emphasizing confidence in his leadership to advance the Authority’s mandate. Under his guidance, CAAB aims to maintain a civil aviation system in Botswana that is safe, secure, efficient, internationally compliant, and competitive.
