Jwaneng Workshop Equips Botswana Creatives With Skills for Professional Growth. Artists and creative industry stakeholders gathered in Jwaneng for a workshop aimed at strengthening professionalism and supporting the long-term development of Botswana’s creative sector.

The workshop, held under the theme “Building a Professional Creative Industry,” was organised through a collaboration between the National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB), the Ministry of Sport and Arts, COSBOTS and the Jwaneng Town Council.

The event brought together creatives and industry stakeholders for knowledge-sharing sessions focused on improving capacity across the sector. Participants received information on a range of topics designed to support sustainable careers in the creative industries.

Discussions covered copyright, intellectual property, royalty collection, artist permits, talent development, business development and opportunities intended to promote professionalism within the sector.

Representing the National Arts Council of Botswana, Mrs. Marang Selolwane outlined the council’s programmes and initiatives that are available to support artists and creative practitioners. The presentation provided attendees with information on services and opportunities offered by the council to assist the growth of the creative industry.

As part of the workshop, the National Arts Council of Botswana also registered artists on the National Artists Registry Database. According to the council, the registration process is intended to position artists to access future opportunities within the creative sector.

The workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Botswana’s creative industries through collaboration between government institutions and sector stakeholders. By bringing together artists and industry representatives, the initiative sought to encourage engagement while providing practical information to support professional development.

The National Arts Council of Botswana said it remains committed to building a sustainable creative industry through strategic partnerships and continued engagement with artists across the country.
