Inside the FNBB Budget Review 2026 Finale: Leaders Emphasise Diversification and Delivery. The final session of the FNBB Budget Review Seminar 2026 brought together international financial insights and local industry perspectives in a discussion centred on sustaining long term growth through diversification and structural reform.
Contributors from Bloomberg, Rand Merchant Bank, and a high level panel examined how Botswana can strengthen economic resilience while building on the foundations of its mining sector. The discussion explored the role of value chain development, infrastructure investment, and resource optimisation in shaping more inclusive economic outcomes.
Speakers emphasised that diversification should not be seen as a move away from mining, but rather as an extension of the sector’s strengths. Aligning mineral production with downstream industries and supporting infrastructure was highlighted as a pathway to broaden economic participation and enhance long term stability.
The closing panel, moderated by Yandile Nuku, focused on the practical requirements needed to translate strategy into measurable progress. Panellists highlighted execution capacity, coordinated planning, and collaboration between government and industry as central to achieving sustainable results.
Discussions also underscored the importance of delivery mechanisms that ensure policy direction is matched by implementation capability across institutions and sectors.
Bringing the seminar to a close, Dr Mbako Mbo, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of FNB Botswana, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting Botswana’s growth trajectory. He said the institution would continue to contribute through insight led dialogue and sustainable financial solutions.
The event concluded with a shared emphasis on partnership driven development and the role of coordinated reform in shaping Botswana’s long term economic outlook.
Participants described the seminar as a platform for engagement between financial institutions, policymakers, and industry leaders examining Botswana’s economic direction. The forum provided space for analysis, reflection, and exchange on fiscal trends, investment priorities, and reform pathways shaping future development planning across sectors and institutions nationwide today and beyond this year.
