HATAB Sector Engagements Conclude Successfully in Maun. The Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) has successfully concluded its two-day sector engagements in Maun, bringing together key stakeholders from across the tourism industry for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic alignment.
The sessions provided a platform to share updates on critical areas such as destination marketing, grading and licensing, investment opportunities, and eco-certification initiatives. Beyond delivering progress reports, the engagements created space for stakeholders to reflect on past initiatives, exchange insights, and explore collective pathways for strengthening Botswana’s tourism sector.
Participants included representatives from camps, lodges, and mobile camp operators, ensuring that perspectives from diverse segments of the industry were heard. The discussions fostered an environment of openness and knowledge-sharing, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in building a resilient and competitive tourism landscape.
The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) emphasized that continuous stakeholder engagement remains central to its mandate. Officials highlighted that the experiences, ideas, and perspectives of industry players are vital in shaping strategies that support sustainable growth and inclusivity. The organisation expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by stakeholders and reaffirmed its dedication to working hand-in-hand with the sector to elevate Botswana’s tourism offering.
The Maun engagements mark an important step in the ongoing consultative process, which will continue in Kasane, where further discussions with regional tourism stakeholders are scheduled. These sessions are expected to build on the momentum generated in Maun, ensuring that the voices of stakeholders across Botswana’s tourism hubs contribute to shaping the future of the industry.
The successful conclusion of the Maun engagements underscores the collective determination to strengthen Botswana’s tourism sector, positioning it as a driver of economic growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.
