Halfway Toyota Fuels World Relays Gaborone 2026 with Vehicle Donation. Botswana’s preparations for the World Athletics Relays Gaborone 2026 received a major boost as Halfway Toyota officially handed over three vehicles to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), signaling strong private sector support for the landmark event.

The donation includes a Toyota Starlet, Toyota Fortuner, and a minibus, which will be used to enhance the event’s mobility, logistics, and operational efficiency ahead of the global competition scheduled for 2–3 May 2026.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, World Relays Botswana CEO Moses Bantsi thanked Halfway Toyota for leading by example and called on more companies to join hands in supporting Botswana’s first-ever hosting of a World Athletics Relays event—and the first to be held on African soil.

Halfway Toyota Group CEO Riaan Grobler echoed the sentiment, noting the company’s pride in backing an event that showcases Botswana’s potential on a global stage. “This is about building legacy, creating visibility for Botswana, and celebrating excellence,” Grobler added.

LOC Chairperson Prof. Martin Mokgwathi assured stakeholders of the committee’s readiness to deliver a world-class event and positioned Gaborone as a rising hub for sport, tourism, and business.

The World Athletics Relays inspection team is set to arrive in Gaborone to assess progress and engage with local organisers as preparations accelerate.

For Botswana’s entrepreneurs, the event offers business opportunities in logistics, hospitality, catering, transport, and merchandise—sectors expected to benefit from the surge in international visitors and media attention.
