Gambling Authority Reinforces Safe Betting Message at Betway Botswana Launch. The Gambling Authority of Botswana reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer and more accountable betting environment during the official launch of Betway Botswana.

Speaking at the event, CEO Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe emphasized the Authority’s vision of a secure, transparent, and nationally beneficial gambling sector. Licensed operators have already accounted for more than P150 million in wagers—representing 48% of the market—highlighting the growing scale and potential of the regulated industry.

Kesitilwe underscored the Authority’s focus on responsible gambling through data-driven regulation, rigorous compliance measures, and broad national education efforts. Central to this mission is the Motshameko o Phepha initiative, which has reached over 100,000 citizens across 191 villages, encouraging informed and safe gambling choices.

The Authority has also made notable progress in combating illegal gambling, reclaiming 248,000 users from offshore platforms through enforcement and international cooperation.

As Betway Botswana enters the regulated market, its launch marks a step forward in expanding consumer options under Botswana’s compliance framework. The Gambling Authority is positioning licensed operators as partners in shaping a responsible gambling culture built on ethical standards and public trust.
