Gaborone City Council Launches Creative Arts Competition to Empower Local Talent. The Gaborone City Council has announced an exciting opportunity for emerging artists through its upcoming Creative Arts Gallery Competition, inviting unemployed and upcoming Batswana creatives based in Gaborone to participate. With the theme “Unleash Your Inner Creativity – Tradition Meets Tomorrow,” the initiative aims to promote talent development, cultural expression, and economic opportunity within the creative sector.
The competition will be an on-site creation event, allowing participants to showcase their skills live across four categories: Art, Macrame, Flower Arrangement, and Collage. This approach not only encourages artistic expression but also fosters networking and learning among participants in a shared, hands-on environment.
Only unemployed and upcoming artists residing in Gaborone are eligible to register. Those interested are encouraged to sign up at their nearest Home Economics Office, located at Tsholofelo Hall, Gwest Hall, or Lesedi Hall.
The initiative aligns with Botswana’s broader goals to support creative entrepreneurship and youth economic empowerment. By providing a platform for visibility, Gaborone City Council is investing in future artistic innovators and offering them an avenue to gain recognition and potentially attract commercial or collaborative opportunities.
The registration deadline is 31 July 2025, and artists are advised to secure their spots early. For additional information, the public can contact any of the following numbers: 3657463, 3707672, 3657560, or 3707643.
