FNB Botswana and BotGBC Partner to Drive Green Growth and Affordable Housing. FNB Botswana has entered into a strategic 12-month partnership with the Botswana Green Building Council (BotGBC) aimed at advancing sustainable development across the country. The agreement, formalised through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), sets out a collaborative framework to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into housing and finance solutions.
The partnership will focus on developing affordable housing options that meet modern sustainability standards, while also introducing innovative green financial products tailored for the Botswana market. Through these efforts, both organisations aim to help Batswana access homes that are both cost-effective and environmentally responsible.
In addition to housing, the collaboration will provide technical advisory services to individuals, businesses, and developers seeking to implement sustainable building practices. Public awareness campaigns and policy advocacy will also be part of the initiative, with the goal of strengthening Botswana’s sustainable finance ecosystem and supporting the country’s transition toward a climate-resilient economy.
Speaking on the agreement, FNB Botswana Retail Director Monkgogi Mogorosi said the bank is committed to going beyond traditional financing. “At FNB Botswana, we are not just financing growth — we are financing green growth. We are stepping up — not just with funding, but with innovation, partnerships, and purpose.”
For Botswana’s business community, this partnership presents opportunities to engage with emerging green finance products, adopt sustainable construction methods, and align with global ESG standards. It also positions entrepreneurs to tap into new markets driven by eco-conscious consumers and investors.
