DTC Botswana Highlights Leadership Engagement as De Beers People Chief Visits Gaborone. DTC Botswana hosted a leadership engagement session earlier today with Ms. Malebogo Mpungwa, the Chief People Officer of De Beers Group, in a visit that underscored the company’s commitment to strengthening workplace culture and collaboration across the diamond value chain. The session was facilitated by Ms. Stella Moetse, Senior Manager for Human Resources at DTC Botswana.

The visit formed part of the Visible Felt Leadership initiative, a De Beers Group programme designed to build meaningful connections between executives and employees by engaging directly with teams on the ground. For Botswana’s business community, this type of leadership visibility is increasingly recognised as a model for improving organisational performance, communication and employee morale.

Ms. Mpungwa began her engagement with interactive discussions involving Sorter Trainees from the DTCB Academy and members of the Human Resources team. She then toured key operational areas such as the Diamond Cleaning Plant, Administration offices including Security and Finance, as well as Hospitality and Operations. The sessions created space for employees to share their experiences while gaining insight into leadership perspectives shaping the group.

Her discussions covered De Beers Group’s strategic direction, current trends in the mining industry, the evolving nature of leadership within resource-based sectors and emerging HR practices. She also expressed appreciation for the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the DTC Botswana team. For some employees, the visit served as a reunion, as Ms. Mpungwa had previously worked with several team members earlier in her career.

For entrepreneurs and industry players, the visit reinforces Botswana’s broader emphasis on collaboration and capacity-building within the diamond sector. As DTC Botswana continues to strengthen strategic relationships through open dialogue and engagement, the organisation remains focused on enhancing Botswana’s leadership role in the global diamond industry.
