Choppies Sells Zimbabwe Operations to Focus on Profitable Markets. Choppies Enterprises Limited has confirmed the sale of its Zimbabwean business to Pintail Trading, a prominent supermarket retailer operating in the southern region of Zimbabwe.
The transaction, valued at US$260,000 (approximately P3.75 million), includes the net assets of Choppies Zimbabwe. Pintail Trading operates across two key sectors: grocery retail and hardware supplies.
According to Choppies, the decision to divest from Zimbabwe is part of a broader strategy aimed at concentrating efforts and resources on regions that yield stronger financial returns. While the company maintains a positive long-term outlook on Zimbabwe, it noted that sustaining operations in that market would require significant ongoing investment.
The group stated that continuing to support the Zimbabwean division under current conditions is not economically feasible, prompting the sale.
