Choppies Launches Employee Building Scheme to Support Property Development. Retail leader Choppies Supermarket has introduced a new initiative aimed at empowering its long-serving employees through access to affordable building materials, reinforcing its commitment to improving staff welfare and financial security.
The initiative, which applies to employees who have served the company for two years or more, will enable eligible staff members to acquire building materials at discounted rates through Builders Mart, a sister company under the Choppies Group.
Speaking on the new programme, Choppies Head of Marketing, Kebonyemodisa Kebonyemodisa, said the initiative was developed to support employees’ long-term stability and help them achieve property ownership goals. “We have adopted this approach to guarantee our employees can purchase materials at reasonable prices,” he explained.
The move comes at a time when many households across Botswana continue to face financial pressures linked to high living costs and limited access to affordable housing resources. Through this building scheme, Choppies aims to bridge that gap by offering practical, sustainable assistance that contributes to staff development and retention..
Beyond providing financial relief, the initiative reflects Choppies’ broader commitment to inclusive growth — ensuring that the company’s success extends to the people who drive its operations. The programme also demonstrates how corporate Botswana can play a pivotal role in supporting employee empowerment and community upliftment.
By leveraging its established retail and supply chain network, Choppies continues to position itself as not just a retailer but also a socially responsible employer focused on the wellbeing of its workforce.
