CEDA Caretaker CEO to Address Future of Mining Summit 2026. The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) has confirmed its Caretaker CEO, Mr. Khalala Mokefane, as one of the distinguished speakers at the upcoming Future of Mining Summit 2026, scheduled for 29–30 June 2026 at Boipuso Hall. The summit will run under the theme “Mining for Transformation: Economic Diversification & Shared Prosperity.”

Mr. Mokefane brings extensive experience in banking and development finance, with a strong track record in SME enablement, institutional growth, and strategic portfolio management. Prior to joining CEDA, he served as Head of Wholesale Banking at Bank Gaborone and held leadership roles at Standard Chartered Bank, First National Bank, and Stanbic Bank Botswana.

Academically, Mokefane holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Accountancy (BAcc) from the University of Botswana. He has also completed the Senior Management Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch, a certificate from the Asset-Based Finance Association in the United Kingdom, and an Associate Diploma in Banking Stage II from the Botswana Institution of Bankers.

At the summit, Mokefane will deliver a presentation on the role of CEDA in advancing value chain development and promoting citizen participation in the local mining industry. In line with its new strategic direction, CEDA is actively facilitating funding opportunities for citizen-owned companies across the mining value chain. This commitment was recently demonstrated through capital support extended to Meropa Resources for the Khoemacau Expansion Project contract.

As this year’s theme emphasizes industrialisation and economic diversification, CEDA’s participation—both as a presenter and exhibitor—will play a critical role in unlocking funding opportunities for citizen-owned enterprises within the mining sector.
