Led by Dr. Pierce Otlhogile-Gordon, the session offered more than conventional entrepreneurial frameworks—it delved into the intersection of innovation, strategy, and human-centred design. Attendees were guided through the process of shaping business models uniquely suited to the Botswana market, with a focus on building enterprises that meet real needs and deliver lasting value.

Throughout the masterclass, Dr. Otlhogile-Gordon challenged participants to think beyond profitability and product-market fit. “Entrepreneurs must learn to understand how consumers receive ideas, interpret behaviours, and anticipate needs that haven’t yet been voiced,” he emphasized during the session. This shift in focus encouraged a deeper exploration of empathy in business design and decision-making.

The event also fostered peer learning and collaboration, as participants shared insights and applied new concepts to their own ventures in real time. The approach combined practical tools with reflective strategy—encouraging innovators to balance market dynamics with the emotional and psychological drivers of consumer behaviour.

Hosted by BDIH, the Innovation GEM Series continues to serve as a key platform for equipping Botswana’s entrepreneurial community with forward-thinking skills and strategies. As digital transformation and market diversification accelerate, the need for businesses rooted in purpose and relevance becomes increasingly critical.

The session concluded with strong engagement and a renewed sense of mission among attendees, many of whom praised the masterclass for its clarity, relevance, and practical value.
