Business Leaders Spotlight New Opportunities as Dikgwebo Dialogues Open in Francistown. The Dikgwebo Dialogues series opened this morning in Francistown, drawing a full audience for a discussion focused on emerging economic opportunities in the northern region. The event brought together entrepreneurs, business leaders, and development stakeholders for an in-depth look at how Francistown’s evolving landscape is shaping new paths for enterprise growth.
Leading the discussion were Lesego Mohlohlwa, Branch Manager of CEDA Francistown, and Kgalemang Olekantse, Acting Branch Manager at the Local Enterprise Authority. Speaking under the theme “Opportunities in the North: Unlocking Francistown’s Business Ecosystem,” the two outlined key developments influencing business expansion in the area.
Both speakers highlighted the recently revised CEDA guidelines, which now include programmes such as Thuo-Khumo and Mabogo Dinku. The new measures are intended to broaden access for small and emerging entrepreneurs, offering more flexible avenues for funding and business support. Attendees were encouraged to explore these opportunities and leverage available financial instruments to strengthen their ventures.
They also emphasised Francistown’s position along the A1 corridor, noting its access to major markets and neighbouring countries. The city’s strategic location, they said, continues to make it a focal point for trade and cross-border business activity.
Several major infrastructure projects were identified as catalysts for growth. These include the 200-kilometre A3 road reconstruction, upgrades on the Mmandunyane–Mathangwane stretch, and proposed expansion of Block 3 industrial warehouses. According to the speakers, such developments are expected to stimulate demand in construction, logistics, manufacturing, and support services.
Another key highlight was the relaunch of Tataki Mine in September 2025, which has already contributed to renewed activity in real estate, hospitality, textiles, and related sectors. The reopening is viewed as a significant driver in revitalising Francistown’s economic momentum.
Organisers noted that today’s session marks the beginning of continued dialogue aimed at empowering entrepreneurs with information and practical insights.
