Building Botswana’s Next Generation of Investors: Botswana Stock Exchange Hosts Legae Academy Students. The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) hosted Form 6 students from Legae Academy today in a bid to strengthen financial literacy and foster a culture of investment among young Batswana.

The educational visit included a detailed presentation by Mr. Kgotla Segwe, BSE’s Market Development Specialist, who explained the Exchange’s structure, mandate, and its role in Botswana’s economic development. Mr. Segwe also outlined the various investment products available through the BSE, such as equities, bonds, and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).

To complement the theoretical session, Ms. Angel Gabobegwe, Market Development Assistant at the BSE, led an interactive workshop using the BSE Stanbic Bank Stock Market Simulator. This virtual trading platform, created in partnership with Stanbic Bank Botswana, allows users to engage in simulated trades under real market conditions. The tool provides practical experience and a better understanding of market operations.

This visit forms part of the BSE’s broader commitment to empowering Botswana’s youth with essential financial knowledge and tools. By equipping learners with insights into capital markets, the BSE aims to encourage active participation in investment opportunities, potentially supporting future wealth creation and economic growth within the country.

Legae Academy students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn about the stock market in a hands-on environment, gaining exposure to concepts that could shape their financial decisions going forward.
