BTC Donates Over P500,000 from Francistown Marathon to Northern Communities. Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by donating P500,875 raised through the 4th BTC Francistown Marathon 2025 to beneficiaries across northern Botswana.
The handover saw support extended to key institutions and initiatives in Francistown, Tonota, Tutume, Masunga, and Mosojane. Among the recipients, Francistown City Council received office equipment valued at P139,375 to strengthen service delivery, while Tonota District Health Management Team was equipped with 16 new wheelchairs worth P104,000 to improve mobility support for patients.
In the education sector, the Tutume Education Department benefited from hostel supplies valued at P87,500, aimed at improving the learning environment for students. Meanwhile, Masunga and Mosojane Village Development Committees received waste recycling kits worth P80,000, promoting sustainable practices and cleaner communities.
Sports development was also prioritised, with the Francistown Athletics Club receiving P90,000 in operational funding to help nurture local athletic talent and ensure the continuity of sporting programmes.
The 2025 contributions bring BTC’s total donations through the Francistown Marathon initiative to P1 million over the past three years, demonstrating a sustained investment in health, education, environmental sustainability, and sports.
Botswana Looking ahead, the 5th BTC Francistown Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, 18 April 2026 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium. The event is expected to draw runners from across Botswana and beyond, further cementing its place as both a sporting highlight and a driver of community upliftment.
