BTC Channels Over P500,000 from Francistown Marathon to Northern CCommunities. Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has donated a total of P500,875 from the 4th BTC Francistown Marathon 2025 to support key community initiatives across Northern Botswana, including Francistown, Tonota, Tutume, and Masunga.

The contributions were directed towards projects aimed at enhancing local infrastructure, social services, and community development. Francistown City Council received office equipment valued at P139,375 to support its administrative operations. Tonota’s District Health Management Team (DHMT) was supplied with 16 wheelchairs worth P104,000, improving accessibility for residents in need of mobility support.

Tutume’s Education Department benefitted from hostel supplies valued at P87,500, aimed at improving student living conditions, while Masunga and Mosojane Village Development Committees received waste recycling kits worth P80,000 to bolster local environmental initiatives. The Francistown Athletics Club also received P90,000 in operational funds to strengthen sports development and community engagement.

“This initiative demonstrates BTC’s ongoing commitment to investing in the social and economic development of Northern Botswana,” said a BTC spokesperson. The corporation noted that over the past three years, total donations through the marathon have exceeded P1 million, reflecting a sustained effort to empower local communities and support regional growth.

The 5th BTC Francistown Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, 18 April 2026 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium. Entrepreneurs, local businesses, and community members are encouraged to participate, both as competitors and sponsors, to continue fostering community development while promoting active lifestyles.
