BSB’s Mahalapye Branch Donates Dustbins to Support Local Clean-Up Efforts. Botswana Savings Bank’s Mahalapye Branch has contributed to ongoing community clean-up efforts by donating dustbins to the Mahalapye District Council. The initiative forms part of the bank’s iCare Social Week activities, which are being implemented across several communities through the institution’s branch network.

The project supports the Environmental Pillar of Botswana Savings Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme and was coordinated in collaboration with the Mahalapye District Council. Delivered through the bank’s iCare Employee Volunteer Programme, the effort aligns with the objectives of Botswana’s National Clean-Up Campaign, which encourages citizens and institutions to promote responsible waste management and maintain cleaner public spaces.

Through this contribution, the bank is supporting multiple villages, including Kalamare, Mmutlane, Dibete, Machaneng, Shoshong, Mookane and Mahalapye. A total of 15 dustbins have been provided to assist local authorities in strengthening waste-collection points and improving environmental upkeep in the participating communities.

An official handover ceremony was held in Kalamare on Thursday, 27 November 2025. During the event, Mahalapye Branch Manager, Obakeng Atlholang, highlighted the value of creating well-maintained surroundings and the role that consistent community participation plays in achieving cleaner environments. The branch noted that such contributions form part of its ongoing efforts to support community welfare through practical, on-the-ground initiatives.

BSB expressed appreciation for the Mahalapye Branch team, acknowledging their involvement in coordinating the activity and their commitment to community upliftment. The dustbin donation marks another step in the continued rollout of iCare Social Week activities, which are designed to reinforce the bank’s broader focus on encouraging dignity, environmental responsibility and sustainable community development.

As the programme continues nationwide, the bank says its branches will remain engaged in initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of the communities they serve.
