Brand Botswana and Inside Women in BW Sports Equip Athletes with Business and Branding Skills. In a move that bridges the gap between sport and enterprise, Brand Botswana, in collaboration with Inside Women in BW Sports, hosted a Capacity Building Workshop aimed at empowering the 2025 award-winning athletes and sports administrators. The event focused on helping athletes transition into entrepreneurship and leadership beyond their sporting careers.
Held under the theme of nation building through sport, the workshop provided practical guidance on topics such as investment funding, financial literacy, starting and managing a business, contract negotiation, and personal branding. Participants also explored how to leverage their visibility as Brand Ambassadors to contribute meaningfully to Botswana’s image both locally and internationally.
Ms. Kutlo Moagi, Executive Director of Brand Management at BITC, congratulated the attendees and emphasized the importance of athletes understanding their power beyond the field. “Your personal brand is your bridge to opportunity. You are not just champions—you are Botswana’s ambassadors,” she said.
The session also featured an interactive cultural activity led by Mr. Thuso Palai, Director of Brand Management at BITC, celebrating Botswana’s heritage. In his remarks, he underscored the importance of using sport as a tool for unity, pride, and global representation.
As the #PushaBW movement continues, the workshop reaffirmed the role of athletes as both cultural icons and emerging business leaders.
