BOYCA Proposes Strategic Partnership to Empower Young Contractors in Botswana. The Botswana Youth Contractors Association (BOYCA) is seeking to formalize a partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs to drive youth participation in Botswana’s construction sector.

Represented by Secretary General Aobakwe Tsheboagae and Chairperson Hope B. Nkgwang, BOYCA recently held a meeting with Hon. Lesego Chombo, Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs, to present a collaborative vision for empowering young contractors through mentorship, training, and targeted support programs.

BOYCA is a youth-led non-governmental organization focused on advancing young talent within the construction industry. Its scope includes construction consultancy, contracting services, and the manufacturing of building materials. By providing a platform for skills development and entrepreneurial support, the association aims to reduce barriers to entry for youth in the sector and contribute meaningfully to job creation and national development.

During the engagement, Minister Chombo commended BOYCA’s proactive approach and described the proposed mentorship programme as both timely and practical. She highlighted the potential of such a programme to deliver direct and measurable impact for young contractors across Botswana.

The visit marked a step forward in BOYCA’s broader efforts to foster industry readiness among youth and promote inclusive participation in Botswana’s infrastructure development. BOYCA has indicated interest in working closely with government to align its programmes with national youth empowerment goals.
