Botswana’s Diamond Sector Opens New Doors for Entrepreneurs Through De Beers Growth Programme. Botswana’s entrepreneurial community has been presented with a significant growth opportunity as De Beers Group invites local business owners in the diamond and jewellery value chain to apply for a fully sponsored business development initiative. The programme, delivered in partnership with Raizcorp, is designed to support entrepreneurs who are ready to scale their operations with structured guidance, mentorship and industry-aligned learning.

According to the announcement, the initiative is aimed at citizens who are active in diamond trading, jewellery design or jewellery manufacturing. The programme offers a comprehensive development experience that includes entrepreneurial training, personalised mentorship and access to industry networks that could position participants for stronger growth within Botswana’s diamond economy.

The opportunity caters particularly to entrepreneurs who already have operational businesses and want to refine their business models, improve efficiency or expand their reach. The inclusion of one-on-one mentorship and practical business support means participants will gain both theoretical and hands-on insights that align with the realities of the sector.

Applicants must meet several minimum requirements. They must be Botswana citizens aged 18 or older, already active in their business and ideally operating a registered business that has been trading for over 18 months. They must also demonstrate a minimum monthly turnover of BWP30 000 and be willing to attend in-person engagements in Gaborone.

Entrepreneurs must hold relevant licenses depending on their area of operation. These include the Certificate of Incorporation, VAT Manufacturing Warehouse Certificate, Manufacturing License and sector-specific permits such as the Precious Stones Dealers License, Diamond Cutting and Polishing License, and Jewellery Manufacturing or Designer permits.

De Beers encourages those with passion for craftsmanship, diamond innovation and value creation to apply. The programme represents a timely chance for Botswana entrepreneurs to strengthen their role in one of the country’s most important industries.
