Botswana Vice President Gaolathe Embarks on High-Level U.S. Visit to Advance Economic Transformation Agenda. Vice President and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Botswana, Mr. Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, has commenced an official working visit to the United States from April 21 to May 2, 2025. The visit includes participation in high-level meetings and forums aimed at strengthening Botswana’s economic partnerships and promoting its transformation agenda.
Vice President Gaolathe’s itinerary begins at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he will speak as a distinguished panelist at the Legatum Centre Conference on April 23. He will then travel to George Washington University (GWU), where he previously studied, to deliver a keynote address during a World Bank Spring Meetings side event.
From April 24 to 27, Gaolathe will participate in the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C. His engagement will focus on Botswana’s commitment to fiscal discipline, macroeconomic stability, and inclusive development. The meetings are expected to gather global policymakers to discuss financial resilience in an evolving global economic landscape.
To conclude his visit, the Vice President will attend the Ministerial Leadership Development Program at Harvard University. The program seeks to strengthen governance capacity through advanced executive-level training and insight. He is scheduled to return to Botswana on May 2, 2025.
Vice President Gaolathe is accompanied by Mr. Cornelius Dekop, Governor of the Bank of Botswana, and Dr. Tshokolo Kganetsano, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, alongside other senior officials.
