Botswana Tourism Showcases National Attractions at Gaborone District Open Day. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) was among the many institutions that participated in the second day of the Gaborone District Open Day, held at Maruapula Community Hall. The event, coordinated by the Gaborone District Council, aimed to bring essential services closer to residents and strengthen public awareness of government, parastatal, private, and non-governmental offerings.
BTO used the platform to promote Botswana’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse tourism experiences. Staff engaged with attendees on the country’s globally acclaimed safari destinations, ecotourism initiatives, and cultural attractions—emphasizing Botswana’s position as a leading destination for both regional and international travellers.
The open day format allowed community members to interact with multiple service providers in one location, gaining insight into health, education, agriculture, economic empowerment, and tourism services. BTO’s exhibit attracted wide interest from students, families, and local entrepreneurs keen to explore domestic travel opportunities and understand tourism’s contribution to national development.
The Gaborone District Open Day reflects an ongoing effort to promote transparent governance, accessibility, and citizen engagement. BTO expressed appreciation to everyone who visited their stall and took part in the celebration of Botswana’s identity and tourism potential.
