Botswana Tourism Organisation Highlights Creative Sector Opportunities at Accra Forum. Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is participating in the Creatives Connect Afrika Forum and Festival, a continental platform focused on tourism, cultural industries and the broader creative economy. The event, held from 24 to 26 November 2025 in Accra, Ghana, brings together leaders and professionals working to advance Africa’s position in the creative and tourism sectors.
BTO is represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Keitumetse Setlang, who joined a panel discussion centred on mobility for tourism, cultural and creative professionals. The session explored how improved movement across borders can strengthen collaboration, expand market access and support the growth of Africa’s creative economy under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Setlang shared insights on the value of reducing barriers for industry practitioners and highlighted the importance of building networks that connect countries through skills exchange, cultural expression and tourism development. For Botswana entrepreneurs and businesses operating in the creative and tourism ecosystems, her participation signals the growing recognition of the sector’s economic potential.
The forum provides a platform for African stakeholders to examine new opportunities emerging within AfCFTA, particularly for small and medium enterprises seeking regional visibility. With creative industries increasingly viewed as drivers of diversification, BTO’s presence aligns with efforts to position Botswana as a competitive player in experience based tourism and cultural production.
Creatives Connect Afrika gathers innovators, artists, policymakers and business leaders working across multiple creative fields. The festival component showcases artistic talent from across the continent, while the forum creates space for strategic dialogue on policy, mobility and economic development.
For Botswana, the engagement offers exposure to continental partnerships that can support local creatives, develop cross border tourism packages and stimulate new business ventures. The event reinforces ongoing efforts to amplify Botswana’s cultural identity and strengthen its role within Africa’s growing creative economy.
