Botswana Tourism Organisation Advances National Tourism Strategy with Maun Stakeholder CConsultations. The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has continued its nationwide stakeholder consultation programme in Maun, bringing together tourism industry representatives to discuss key priorities aimed at strengthening the country’s tourism sector.

The engagement follows a similar session held in Kasane and forms part of the validation process for the proposed Botswana Tourism Marketing Strategy. Discussions also covered the review of tourism grading fees, updates to revised hospitality standards, and tourism investment opportunities.

During the consultation, BTO officials presented the proposed initiatives to industry members and stakeholders, who contributed feedback, observations and recommendations. The organisation said the consultations are designed to ensure that the Tourism Marketing Strategy reflects the needs and priorities of the industry while enhancing Botswana’s destination brand and improving its competitiveness in the tourism market.

The review of tourism grading fees and revised hospitality standards also formed a key part of the discussions. According to BTO, the process aims to ensure that Botswana’s quality assurance framework remains fair, relevant and responsive to the changing needs of the tourism industry.

Closing the engagement, Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) Chairman Lawrence Lecha thanked BTO for creating a platform that allows stakeholders to participate in shaping the future of the sector. He emphasised the value of continued collaboration between the organisation, industry players and other stakeholders in developing and implementing an effective Tourism Marketing Strategy.

Lecha also reaffirmed HATAB’s commitment to supporting the growth of Botswana’s tourism industry. He encouraged stakeholders to continue submitting comments, recommendations and relevant information that will contribute to the successful development of the marketing strategy and related initiatives.
