Botswana Tourism Leverages PCF11 to Showcase Opportunities for Entrepreneurs. The Eleventh Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning (PCF11) is currently underway at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, running from 10 to 12 September 2025. Officially opened by President Advocate Duma Boko, the global forum brings together policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to explore innovations in open and distance learning (ODL).

Hosted by the Commonwealth of Learning in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Botswana Open University, PCF11 is regarded as one of the most influential platforms for shaping the future of open, online, and flexible learning. The forum highlights how ODL can bridge the digital divide, expand access to education, and contribute to socio-economic development worldwide.

While the event’s primary focus is education, Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is using the opportunity to market Botswana to international delegates. Exhibiting alongside travel partners Yebo Travel and Nxai Travel, BTO is showcasing the country’s unique tourism experiences, from its renowned wildlife destinations to the newly launched City Tourism initiative in Gaborone. The initiative highlights the capital’s cultural, historical, and lifestyle attractions, positioning the city as more than just a business hub.

For Botswana’s business community, PCF11 presents a dual advantage: access to global insights on digital learning trends that can strengthen corporate training and workforce development, and exposure to international networks that may open doors for partnerships in both education and tourism. Entrepreneurs in sectors such as hospitality, travel, education technology, and cultural industries stand to benefit from the visibility created through BTO’s presence at the forum.

As PCF11 continues, it underscores Botswana’s growing role as a destination for knowledge exchange, investment, and global engagement—positioning the country as a space where education and enterprise intersect.
